Terrorist attack in Paris

If I take a book on UFOs or Bigfoot and I tore all the pages out and scattered it all over the place, it does not suddenly become multiple sources for the purposes of research. Even if I take other books about UFOs based on that original UFO book it still does not become more credible as far as proving UFOs exist goes.

Quote:And as for artist interpretation, you really think the hubble telescope captures those beautiful views of space? Or what about the reconstruction of a new species of extinct animal from a single bone, complete with different colored skin/fur/hair?

Those beautiful images are made for the public to make sure that when Hubble needs a service mission they will work on their political representatives to make it happen. Those images people think of from Hubble were not edited for the purposes of science. The images that aren't nice to look at you can find in the white papers from actual research material. It worked perfectly too, a lot of people are going to want to compel the government to try to bring Hubble home now because of those pictures when the service life is over. They aren't being edited to prove a scientific claim.

Quote:If God told you to do something that you did not want to do, would you do it? Many atheists have made it clear that even if the found out that God was real they would give Him a big "Fuck you" or the like because a divine being did not act or behave in the way they personally thought they should.

With a attitude like that, where rejection is already pre-decided no matter what and that opinion will forever be unchangeable, no proof would ever be enough, no method of communication would ever be acceptable, and anything you didn't understand would be considered a contradiction.
round earth stuff

If God manifest in front of me today and told me to kill my daughter as he supposedly told Isaac to kill his son...well lets just say I'm not sure what I'd say, but that I probably nice things to say and it would probably involve a psychopathy and anti-social personality disorder accusation... I also would have it known that I've NEVER said god does not exist. I HAVE said that God is extremely unlikely to exist and that even if it did exist the Christian interpretation of it would probably be wrong anyway because Christianity started as a cult during a time when people believed in other Gods already... just like Mormonism, Scientology, Heaven's Gate etc. Christianity just has the buffer of time on it's side to lend to its perceived credibility. I have also I think the Atheist viewpoint (as opposed to agnosticism) is in fact at odds with science because of the inability to prove definitively that God does not exist.

BTW though, in today's world people who hear voices and see things that tell them to kill their own children we call mentally ill and rightly imprison them when they carry out the act. Most Christians it seems are A-OK with this and don't take the voices the person heard seriously as actual voices from God. Isaac on the other hand...that was for real, ya know. That Deanna Laney though...She was just crazy right?

Quote:Which is why they found water which is 1.1 to 2.6 billion years old. Because that's what the computer models say they would have to be, never mind the plausibility of such a thing.

Or it could just be that since the speed of radioactive decay of a known compound has never been observed to change that the water really was that old and has been down there that long. Volcanoes occur near subduction zones (think "the ring of fire" in the pacific) specifically because the water present in the subsurface rock on the bottom of the ocean is taken down underground though the act of subduction with the slab which in turn causes the melting temperature of the mantle to lower allowing the magma to rise and manifest as a volcano on the surface because of ancient water. A process that takes millions of years to happen. That is also a claim that can and has been verified through experimentation. The greenstone belt zones where that water was found are also where some of the oldest Earth rocks ever have been found

Gold doesn't just occur by itself normally it occurs in a vein along with something like quartz. It doesn't go anywhere except where it's fault block it is contained in goes until it's exposed and weathered out of a rock. People who pan for gold in a stream find spots where it's likely to be concentrated in a deep spot or crack in a stream AFTER it has already weathered out via erosion.

This is what a gold vein normally looks like at the source manifest at the surface (what you see there is mostly quartz with the gold locked in:

What is stopping a glacier from scraping across a vein and dislodging deposits that made their way here? As to which ice age may have transported it is a much more difficult question to answer. It may have been one, it may have been several. At that point you have to start to factor in the position of the American continent at the times ice ages have been known to occur. The last ice age ended ~11,000 years ago. Written in the rock record in many places on earth you can see evidence of the last ice age. Even central park in NYC for example has smooth rock outcrops that have been polished by glaciers during the last ice age.

Do you understand what a massive shift in climate would have to occur for that to happen on that 5,000 year time scale? Glaciers of that size and scale capable of leaving that kind of footprint don't just form overnight after a few snowstorms.

On a more serious note, if you cross a horse with a donkey to get a mule why can't mules procreate?

Please explain why there are humans walking around TODAY (probably you and me, white guys with European heritage) with neanderthal DNA if humans were put on this earth in one form that never changed at all or had other ancestral species...

So again, a long long time ago, little pieces of dense heavy gold got snow plowed all the way from Canada to Lancaster County, PA, and settled. Then a relatively shallow creek unearthed them among existing deposits of much lesser dense and weighty material....

You can't have it both ways. If the ice age brought it oh so long ago, and layers deposit material over those years, then they would be buried much deeper. Unless of course the Great Flood that really brought them here didn't happen so long ago as millions of years.

Again the amount of material you're talking about is next to nothing. If you pan just about any creek in AZ or CA you'll turn up something. If you pan a stream here in PA you'll see a speck maybe once an hour. How come if you setup a sluice box in a stream how come all the gold isn't trapped in the first riffle? How is it that if the angle is slightly too steep the gold will run right through it? You're trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole in order to confirm your own beliefs. Every person on earth has trace amounts of radioactive materials in their bones as a side effect of nuclear testing in the 50s and 60s even though we don't live anywhere near a test site and those are some of the heaviest elements there are that occur naturally yet they found their way into every human on the planet. The mechanism of deposition from glaciation and moving water are entirely different and leave completely different fingerprints in the rock record this can also be replicated on a sand table in 5 minutes.

I assume you believe the finger lakes in NY are the result of a great flood too? How come they look NOTHING like any other lakes around them? If you can look at a map of the finger lake region of NY and not see obvious evidence of glaciation then I really have to wonder if the sky is blue in your world too. Can you also literally create a woman from a rib in your world?

You can stop with the condescension.

No one is discounting glaciation. All I'm saying is you are doing the same thing in reverse of that which you are accusing me of. You're trying to convince me that science has an answer for everything. For that, I throw the B.S. Flag. Scientists are constantly coming up with new theories and ideas on everything and discounting others. The whole concept of how the Colorado River was formed, contrary to your single opinion, happens to be one of those issues. Others include meteor strikes vs glacial melting as to how certain geological transformations occurred, the actual formation of the universe, the presence and geographical location of certain species, on and on. In fact, I just watched a History Channel special on Albert Einstein, when he presented his Theory of Relativity and how that set the whole scientific community on its ears, to include debunking long held beliefs of Sir Isaac Newton's work and explanation of gravity. It was even Einstein who believed that out there was an entity that had beautifully and artfully masterminded the entire universe, as he contemplated and summarily dismissed the entire notion that everything here was left to chance, but more rather "intelligently designed".

So, continue to hammer away at your own peg.

A quick scan of this thread proves that the French were killed by terrorists like Bigfoot, Jesus and L. Ron Hubbard . Their DNA was then scattered all over by glaciers and UFOs. Did I miss anything? Big Grin

Admit nothing.  Deny everything. Demand proof.
If we lie to the government, it's a crime. If the government lies to the people, it's called politics.

LOL, I stopped wishing this would get back on topic some time last month. Politics was not broached however. So let's chew on this.

Obama recently said that the media over-hypes terrorism because "if it bleeds it leads". But that it was just awful that a person randomly shot some folks in Paris.
The fact that he finds a Muslim terrorist executing Jews at a Jewish deli a random act of violence is infuriating because he knows better and is playing politics with it like he does with everything else. And his flunkies back him up with ridiculous impossible to defend statements. Josh Earnest (WHSpox) responded that it was not terror because the killer did not call the victims out by name.

Yep, it's amazing those that continue to parrot for Obama. Almost as bad as the recent "news" reporter who compared Chris Kyle to a serial killer.

Yay! Now I give a shit about this thread again! Jen Psaki, the SPOX @ Dept of State is a cunt and a half. She is extremely dismissive and patronizing to anyone who dares question the Administration's point of view.

Hey... just a random attack on a United States Marine barracks by muslims who werent muslims and had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they were UNITED STATES MARINES
