The Doom and Bloom Survival Medicine Handbook
#1
http://www.amazon.com/Doom-Bloom-Surviva...0615563236

I've heard people talking about this in several areas of the net and the general consensus seems to be that its a good book worth getting, but has anyone here read it or had any experience with it? The price has me a bit weary, but having a medical book actually written from the perspective that you can't just stabalize someone until better treatment is available (after a collapse or TEOTWAWKI) keeps me interested.

So anyone have any info on this one or suggestions for similar works?

I can not attest to the book but Doom is a Doctor and Bloom is a Nurse Practitioner and if the book is anything like the information in their podcasts and website it may be well worth it.  They give tons of great information (that is how I learned about being able to use fish antibiotics).

well with a dr and an np, it may well be great information. the best way to acquire it is to learn it from actual classes and such and not have to rely on a book that you will skin to and hope that is the section for your exact need. but it is better then nothing.

I might purchase this book soon, I have been looking for a good medical book like this.

I'm just curious but what about Fish antibiotics? This caught my attention.

You can buy fish penicillin online, with no prescription, and they work the same and I believe are the same, as antibiotics for people, so they are good to stock in a SHTF scenario.

Medicine for fish, in particular antibiotics, are made in the same formulation as humans. Most times they are the exact same medications, made in the same facility and some of the stock goes for human use and some of it gets packaged for fish use. The stuff for fish can be acquired without a prescription and thus easier to stock up in for a SHTF scenario.

Not just penicillin, but the other "cillins" as well as tetracycline, erythromycin and others. This is certainly great news for those allergic to penicillin etc.

None of the sites list it; I'm assuming its longer than the normal human "capsules" but I'm not sure; they have it printed on the bottle, but most of them are supposed to be good 2-10 years past the shelf life, and in a SHTF its better than nothing.
