The End of the SIG Brace?!
by Dave Higginbotham on November 20, 2014

Will this SIG pistol need to be registered as an SBR before you can put it to your shoulder?

Rumor on the web today is that there’s trouble in SBR paradise. Shouldering the arm brace (most notably the SIG-Tac SB15–the single most significant firearms invention of the young decade) may soon make that legal AR pistol an illegal short barreled rifle . http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/end-sig-brace/

This author is spreading misinformation. The guy submitted for a shotgun. A no no.

It has nothing to do with pistols with the brace.

"Calm Down, The ATF Hasn’t Changed Its Mind on the Pistol Arm Brace.

The National Firearms Act is one of the worst pieces of legislation in the history of the world ever. And I don’t just mean that in terms of infringing on our Second Amendment rights, I mean that grammatically as well. The law is as clear as mud, sometimes when it comes to relatively straightforward questions. Once again we seem to have run headlong into an issue that the NFA doesn’t clearly spell out. In this case, the ATF appears to have told someone that using the pistol brace “improperly” makes it an SBR. And while that is 100 percent true for that person, the ATF isn’t “reversing their decision.” The letter makes perfect sense, and it’s fully consistent with past communications. Here’s why . . ."

Precisely. It's all about intent. The guy that wrote the letter in question stupidly told the ATF that he intended on making an SBR.

Exactly

And that's exactly what makes me wonder if someone can manufacture a select fire AR with the intent of only using it in semi-auto mode? Dodgy

For that matter this solidifies my opinion that the whole agency needs to be dismantled.
