The new frontier in the war on "hate speech"
#1
In case you ever wondered what the end goal was for these people who endlessly bang the drums saying we need to ban "hate speech" was, here it is:

http://www.news.com.au/world/outrage-as-...6991919349

This is why I get pissed when I hear people talking about how we need to end "hate speech", it's not about ending racism or abusive language it is 100% about creating a populous that censors itself out of fear of government reprisal so that people are terrified to exercise their right to free speech. I keep reading stories like this happening all over Europe and the "western" world. They want to make it so that any criticism against a member of a minority who happens to hold office is illegal so they can crush anyone else from voicing their opposition. Don't get me wrong, I think for this person to compare the target of her criticism by equating her to a monkey is obviously immature, inappropriate, and juvenile, but this woman is being thrown in prison for expressing her opinion in a supposedly civilized nation? What the fuck? I'm perfectly fine if people want to ruin her reputation for her actions and opinions with regards to this issue, but to throw her in prison for it is purely insanity. This is clearly the road we are headed down here in the US too in this world of political correctness run amok. What's more scary is that if you ask the young people today whether people with either racist or bigoted opinions should be held legally responsible for their opinions they will most likely agree that those sorts of opinions should be illegal because they've not been shown the value of living in a society where you can express whatever opinion you may have and be held personally responsible for how those opinions effect your reputation.

Check out this story from Australia too:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-03-24/br...ot/5341552

Read through the comments too, these people are so brainwashed they will argue against their own right to free speech, it's shocking to see...you know though they think this way until they have something to say that doesn't fit the progressive agenda, but by then it's too late.

Meanwhile though in Africa...real racially inspired violence and discrimination is allowed to go unchecked, largely without comment by the western media:

http://www.newsweek.com/mugabe-whites-ca...bwe-257529

Progressivism and it's agenda will be the ruination of the free western world. These stories ought to be standing everyone's hair on end who cares about freedom and the western way of life and as of late they seem to be coming out on a daily basis.

It started, as far as I know, back in the 60's, with the Bill Ayers types. An entire movement aimed at tearing down America from within. I recall reading an article years ago how liberals described changing the face of America in two generations, by controlling the public school systems. Here we are.

Don't worry, I'm sure it would never happen here, where someone would put the force of government behind a program to silence those that they don't agree with.

Right now the big no-no in American free speech is anyone who disagrees with gay marriage or the gay lifestyle. It has lost bakers their job, it has lost beauty pageant winners their ability to win, it lost a newspaper journalist his job recently, etc.

A good example going around the web right now is the treatment of Tim Tebow as compared with the treatment of Michael Sam, and the media reactions to each. (Including the journalist who lost his job) It's crazy. Just let people play football...stop making all this drama! Geez!

I realize that most gays are pretty much "live and let live" but there is a small, noisy faction of them that is persuading the government and the media to really be harsh on any dissenters. It would be nice if the government and the media could be a little less biased on viewpoints and realize that everybody has a different opinion...and supposedly, in America, that's supposed to be OK.

(As a side note, my husband and my four kids and I were stopped in Washington DC near the Smithsonian recently by a guy with an equal sign shirt asking us if we wanted to help support gay rights. He stopped an entire family to ask that? We were polite, but geez..... I thought gay people wanted us to stay out of their bedroom? It's like now they are proselytizing on the streets...what rights do they still need?)

Back to the point....

What's with the fear? The fear of being against gay marriage if you don't agree with it? The fear of allowing OC in your store? (Stores have one complaint, and up goes those NO signs! Why???) The fear of standing up to a criminal if they are a protected skin color and you are not?

We may not have laws against free speech in America, but they are still there, unwritten, these days...and getting stricter all the time.

Speaking of hate speech, I just had someone on my FB page insist that Obama is getting way more unacceptable death threats and hate speech than anyone else, from the "right". I insisted that the left can dole them out pretty good too, and even posted photos of "dead or alive" posters that were out when Bush was in office. Oh, but those didn't count, because nobody "of merit" made them. I told them they can Google all sorts of death threats made by media towards conservative icons or groups. And reminded them that every group at some point makes hate or death threats to the other group...and lefties are not excluded, nor are they specialized victims.

The thread arose because they were complaining about the Texas OCers actually. I try to avoid political discussions on FB but couldn't help myself this time. I'm glad most of my friends aren't liberals, because I can hardly stand to read the posts of the ones that are. Sigh.

" Meanwhile though in Africa...real racially inspired violence and discrimination is allowed to go unchecked, largely without comment by the western media"

Nobody cares if black people here murder each other, you think Americans care if black people in another country do it? The only time the media gets a soppy pussy over dead blacks is when a white person, or a perceived white person, does the killing. Otherwise, they'd make every dead black kid in Chicago or NYC front page news, and Shannon Twatts would be campaigning in the ghetto to Stop The Violence.

But that won't get guilt money by white people who won't give money to help a black person unless they allow themselves to be forced by the government to do it.

The stuff that goes down in Africa is horrendous. There are no words to even describe the evil that takes place daily.

But emoticon, what do you mean "coming soon," it's already here. Want an example, simply stating that you don't support gay marriage brings you the ire of the left, who not only demand an apology but demand your livelihood and social status as well.

There is no greater amount of hypocrisy on any topic than the first amendment.

It's like the area of the brain that processes free speech has been surgically removed from every human in america.

It starts by not having the ability to read english.

Quote:Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.[1]

Here's a guy filming sex acts with an of age porn start but someone found it "offensive", you'd think it would be overturned right? Wrong.. THe SCOTUS wouldn't even hear the case..

Can someone point out where the first has exceptions for "offensive" or "Dog Fighting Videos" or "Child Porn" or me telling you to go fuck your mother? Instead of respecting the constitution (changing it if we really needed to) we kept making excuses, it starts with "for the children", which is bullshit. If someone made a child porn CG movie in which not one child was harmed nearly everyone would be up in arms and calling for a noose, heck we had people calling for a noose when the guy wrote the guide to abducting children book. It's not for the children its for your feelings. I don't give a shit, I'm offended but I have the ability to turn the station, not buy that publication, not visit that website, or listen to that station. So it starts with "for the children and progresses to "for the animals" when its dog fighting (tosh.o has a great video of dog fighting), then if progresses to "its gross" and we throw max hardcore in prison for whatever sick sexual fetish he has.. Next it is because I called someone a name on the internet. If you want to know where it started it started with

"I like the first amendment BUT....."

Just like "I like the second amendment but.."

Quote:Pornographer sentenced to nearly 4 years in prison
Ben MontgomeryBen Montgomery, Times Staff Writer

Paul Little, a.k.a. Max Hardcore, was found guilty in June.
TAMPA — The pornographer tried to apologize.

His voice shook. He sounded as if he'd cry.

"I didn't realize I'd made a mistake," Hollywood hardcore producer Paul Little told the judge Friday. "My entire life I've been trying to do the right thing by people and by the law."

Senior U.S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew interrupted him.

"Mr. Little, I find this almost incredible," she said. "You seem to look at this whole thing as a big joke."

Bucklew sentenced the man known as Max Hardcore to 3 years and 10 months in federal prison for selling and distributing his messy, sometimes violent videos in Tampa. She also made him forfeit three Web sites, fined him $7,500, ordered him to face three years of probation after his prison sentence and fined his company, Max World Entertainment, $75,000.

Tampa jurors convicted Little in June on 10 counts of selling obscene material on the Internet and 10 counts of shipping it to Tampa through the U.S. mail.

They reached that decision after watching 8 1/2 hours of extreme porn on a giant screen in court. At times, they winced as Little performed in sex scenes that included urinating and vomiting.

After nearly two weeks of trial and roughly 12 hours of deliberations, jurors decided that what they had seen went beyond the Tampa Bay region's community standards.

Little's attorneys, who argued his films were protected by the First Amendment, said they plan to appeal.

The very first blow was when, after over 200 years the surpreme court said child porn wasn't protected in 1982!! So for how long was it legal? I mean I don't recall it ever being legal, I suspect people here might be old enough to remember being able to buy it in a store? WTF.. None the less what happened from then to 1982 till now is a whole mess of crap. Simply SCOTUS should have said that it is up to congress to alter the first amendment to ban shit like Child Porn. It would pass very quickly and then we'd be fine but until then it was bullshit. ANd because they got away with it they tried to ban dog fighting videos. Beastiality videos are still banned, why i have no idea. And then bad tasteless porn.. WE reap what we sow, we make exceptions and allow them to stand, it is completely our own fault if you go to jail one day for referencing someone as a trained monkey..

Thankfully SCOTUS was smart enough not to allow dog fighting videos to be considered illegal in 2009

WASHINGTON — The next great First Amendment battle in the Supreme Court concerns, of all things, dogfight videos.

The ones at issue in the case are old and grainy, and they feature commentary from the defendant, Robert J. Stevens, an author and small-time film producer. Mr. Stevens calls himself an educator, and his subject is the history and status of pit bulls.

“For centuries,” Mr. Stevens exclaimed on one videotape, “the American pit bull terrier has reigned supreme as the gladiator of the pit!”

Mr. Stevens, 69, had nothing to do with the dogfights themselves. But he did compile and sell tapes showing them, and that was enough to earn him a 37-month sentence under a 1999 federal law that bans trafficking in “depictions of animal cruelty.”

The Supreme Court will hear his case, which has divided animal rights groups and free-speech advocates, on Oct. 6. The central issue is whether the court should for the first time in a generation designate a category of expression as so vile that it deserves no protection under the First Amendment. The last time the court did that was in 1982; the subject was child pornography.

Reputations being ruined is one thing and its well within people's rights to attack someone else for their beliefs they deem as being bigoted so long as they do not spread falsehoods about you or physically harm you in some way. We're not, however, charging people with crimes or throwing people in prison for cases like this where people say racist or bigoted things. We're definitely headed that way though, but at this point we just make sure we take their kids away from them because of their beliefs rather than imprisoning them. Rolleyes I'm 100% certain we are within 5 years of seeing "hate speech" legislation, probably much less time than that in all honestly.
