The Simpsons lambast Preppers
#1
Anyone watch The Simpsons tonight? Haven't seen the show in awhile, but caught tonight's episode where they lambast preppers as paranoid freaks. Funny stuff though, if you have a sense of humor.

The overall theme was that there is no real or lasting threat to our comfortable society, and if there should be a short-term interruption to normal daily life, you are a selfish jerk if you don't share your prep bounty with the unprepared. I kind of like that idea, since I'm too lazy to be a prepper!

Seriously, any thinking person should recognize the fragility, if not the illusion of safety, security and civic order. One need only look to Sandy, Katrina or even a bad winter snow storm to know it makes sense to be at least marginally prepared. Maybe I'll get more serous about it this year.

Considering the amount of preppers I am acquainted with, I found the show funny. I loved the line about how the town came together after all the mean people left.

Sounds like a repeat to the show from 15+ years ago where Ned had a bunker and let everyone into it, and had to leave it because the townspeople voted him out because they didn't like him.

I was thinking of the same thing. Simpson's have been rehashing story lines for several years now.

Matt Groening is out of ideas. Kill off the Simpsons and focus on Futurama!

Looks like Groening likes old Twilight Zone episodes.

I haven't really watched the show since the movie came out. Before that, I didn't trust people who didn't quote the show.

Now, it's like a lesser family guy. The show seems to have lost its heart, the early episodes vs now are like two different shows.

I just finished watching the episode. I'm not too shocked. They have been leaning a certain direction for quite some time.

Besides, the way they try to make it seem is that if something bad would happen, everyone would band together. Yeah, for the first few days maybe.

I don't take it as what they want it to be taken for I guess. I laugh at the funny parts. It's just a show. Lets face it, this show has been around for more than 20 years. I'm not expecting the gold they used to put out.

I saw the Preppers episode last night and thought it was pretty funny. However, I don't watch the Simpsons as much as I use to any more because it seems they do imply left-wing ideals and themes in their shows. I prefer the older episodes. Oh, and for your information....

I haven't watched the show in years.

But, if you can't laugh at yourself, you're way too serious and your ego is way to big.
