Throwing knives and axes
#1
My neighbor had a nice piece of spruce laying in his yard from a tree job he did the other day. I asked if he needed it and he said, "No. Take it if you want". So I thanked him and rolled the log up the incline to my backyard and set it up on the retaining wall.

I went into the shop and grabbed the throwing-hawk I made a few years back and some unfinished daggers. After about half a dozen throws, I had my distance and began having a lot of fun. Its been a few years since I actually had any real throwing time.

At around 18 feet I can throw with one full rotation with either the knives or hawk. I'm going to make a few new throwers over the next few weeks, as the A2 daggers are not designed for that purpose.

I like it! One of these days I have to start throwing again. Could become a very good talent to have. Nice blades by the way.

Thanks. They were a pair of daggers I was working on when I first started using A2. They just needed handles and a fine hand-finish. Not my best of the batch, but I'm my toughest critic.

No one buys me better Xmas gifts than myself! I ordered a set of Boker Mini Bo Kri throwers the other day. They came in Friday night and I tested them out Saturday. Their odd shape makes for a difficult throw if you need to grip the blade. They also came sharpened. I read that they are designed as a utility knife as well as a thrower. I was able to get one full rotation with them at about 15'. They are plenty heavy and stuck deep when thrown hard.
