Too fat to conceal carry?
#1
Ok, I can hardly admit this to myself let alone on a public forum but I'm getting way too fat! Uh, I used to be a contender! Anyway, the fatter I get, the less I carry. As the pants can no longer summit the beer gut, the "seeing eye belt buckle" below the gut thing starts happening, and an IWB becomes near impossible. When carrying, I feel like I must pull up my pants every half a minute even though I only carry a relatively light G19.

Yes, I will try to slim down, but in the mean time, what tips might my fellow fatties have to avoid having to pull up one's pant twice a minute? (I've heard the NYPD is trained to look for this and similar gun-wearing tells) I need a a viable pants/belt/weapon option, please...

A good belt and properly fitting cloths helps a lot. If you don't want to/can't go through that expense, you might have to change where you carry (try changing up carry method and/or location on the belt) or consider open carrying.

Do the opposite, get fatter and stash it in the folds. Save on buying more holsters, and you probably won't ever need to worry about retention either. Ain't nobody is going to reach in there... Tongue

Suspenders my good fatman. I gained a bit of weight working a desk job for nearly two years but it's started to come off. Problem is, it's coming off in different places at different rates. All my pants fit my waist but they were too big for my hips. They slide down a little bit, they'd hit the ground soon after. Even without a gun. So instead of trying to buy new pants that likely wouldn't help, I went to Wally World and bought a $9 pair of suspenders. It's not my permanent solution or even long term. Duluth Trading Company has what they call underwear suspenders. They are side clip and are made from a softer material so you can wear them under your shirt without having to tuck your shirt it. I plan on ordering a pair after the holidays to help keep my pistol and a grand total of 58 rounds of 9mm in three mags from dragging my pants down.

lol, I spent good money on the supertuck I wear at the 8:30 position (I'm a lefty). That's my preferred carry position and I'm hesitant to change without good reason.

Instead of a thumbsnap holding the gun in place it would be a fat roll? I have a couple of family members that could use that method. I'm heavy but not quite that big.

God damnit, I was going to post this but decided not to. I should have.

OP, it might help if we had more specifics on what you're dealing with, weight, belt size, what firearm? For example, my wife insists she "got fat" if she gains 10 pounds.

I've almost always OC. On the rare occasion that I wanted to CC it was IWB, but my pistol is full size and probably not the most ideal for concealment. I think I would CC OWB and just wear the shirt over it. I can get away with that all year round but I prefer to wear my shirts loose anyway. If I wanted to start CCing full time I would be shopping for a lighter and more concealable pistol. You have to dress around the gun. As an alternative have you thought about pocket carrying a small pistol? Something like an LCP or snubbie revolver?

EDIT... ugh, OK just saw it, G19.

How about a shoulder holster?

Those who watch things happen,
And those who wonder what happened.

Ya, I'd say try a shoulder rig.
