Took a friend to the range today

Last weekend there was a 12 year old girl with her dad at the range and she just hated the noise and preferred the ARs because they're "quieter" LOL

She wasn't a bad first-time shooter either with a 1911. An hour into it a RO had to come in because she was rapid firing. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

I agree. It's a shame that so many people have to be shaken so hard to wake up.
Last week there was an armed robbery at a Wells Fargo bank about 2 miles from home, just a few hours before that the same guy robbed a Hess gas station about 2 blocks away from our house. We don't use that bank but we do use that gas station regularly. I showed the news article to my wife and after she read it I said "That's why I like to keep this with me all the time" pointing to my pistol. She said "Why? you weren't at either of those places when that happened". I said "No, I wasn't, but this shit is happening all around us. If I knew when and where it was going to happen my services would be in high demand".

She still doesn't seem to grasp the concept of being able to defend yourself. She seems to think it happens to other people. She's OK with me having guns handy and she's even gone shooting with me but she seems to think it's unnecessary.
I keep hoping that I'll get through to her before she has to learn the hard way but after 35 years it's looking like It's not going to happen the way I'd like it to.
There are three types of people in the world:
Those who make things happen,
Those who watch things happen,
And those who wonder what happened.

My concern is the time when it is necessary. If I carry my lifetime and don't ever need it, that will be fine with me. I hope never to be complacent and leave my sidearm behind. That would be the time it would be needed and I'd be left with nothing more then hope and prayer for my and possibly someone I care about well being. That would haunt me. I don't like feeling helpless.

Good job helping her out.

Sometimes if takes a dicey situation to wake people up. Glad she didn't get hurt.
A gun rack in a pick-up is not for holding guns. Its a place for women to hold on to. Smile
