Trapping Sub-Forum?
#1
Just like the title says, not TEOTWAWKI type of trapping but legitimate trapping for furbearers during season that doesn't fit into "hunting". I'll be in my second year of trapping this year and would like a place to discuss my experiences, ask questions and make recommendations in an appropriate forum here without it getting lost in the hunting section.

What say you'ns?

I can't imagine it would get much action, but it does make researching topics easier when they are categorized, IMO.

I never trapped. Had a childhood friend that did it, but that was it.
I have considered it recently just for something else to do.

Do you make any money at it?

I didn't sell any pelts last year but my brother in law did. There is good money in it though, I think I might try to make some cash this year. Coyote pelts should bring $40 or more.

The prep work, field time and finish work makes it fun but there is a lot you need to know.

Yeah it's definitely one of those hobbies where you need an informed person showing you the ropes.

I wouldnt have anything to contribute but i would definitely love to read and learn. I have to admit, as lame as this is, i took up a curious interest in the subject after watching a couple episodes of mountain men with my wife. I dont care for the show but the two guys on it that do trapping i find very interesting.

A Reading from the Book of Armaments, Chapter 4, Verses 16 to 20:

Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

I have only helped out a friend of mine who traps. While I'm not all that into it I wouldn't mind seeing what others are doing. Might get me motivated a little more.

Helped my brother in law boil some traps yesterday, I'm boiling mine as we speak. Coyote trapping season is less than a month away! Can't wait to bag me some more this year. The season is 4 months long. Need more traps and I think I can make some good money this year if the funds and time permit.
