Treating already chlorinated water?
#1
I have some water stowed away but the water came from the tap and already tastes like a swiming pool. I added the amount of drops from the water storage solution stuff I got fro Beprepared web site. Now the water has a VERY strong chlorine smell. Do you think this is OK?

Give it time to weaken some. The chlorine will eventually dissipate enough that you won't notice it. Water that's stored long term also will taste "flat", you can overcome that taste by bubbling air through it for a while.

An old backpacking trick that we used to do was take sugar free koolaid with us. So when he had to use our chlorine tablets the koolaid would kill the taste. Might be something to consider to add to your supplies.

Can we expect to see you on that Prepper Show, or have you been already?

You have a wealth of information on the subject. I'm planning to get 2 of those drums to store over my garage as a backup water source. I have a well and a generator to pump it out of the ground, but only as long as my gas supply lasts.
My guidance counselor said I wouldn't amount to anything... Lucky guess! Dodgy

Nope. I won't go near those shows. Because I actually believe in Op-Sec. Here I can maintain some level of anonymity only revealing what I want to.

Easy way to accomplish this is to pour it from one container to another several times. It is amazing the improvement in water "taste" to stored water just aerating it does. 1 gallon water pitchers work great for this.

Same here.....I will gladly divulge what I have learned over the years...especially what works and what don't (don't want to see folks waste money or make the same screw ups I have!Confused)....but as for some of my actual specific stuff, or where I am and who is in my circle, I will probably keep that private.

I don't worry much about putting info on a site like this. The people that would rob me are not posting on this forum. And anyone here knows that it's much wiser to hit an easy target anyway.

Hitting a 'prepper' would be like robbing a gun store. You can do it, but the chance of catastrophic failure is high. lol.
