Found this article. Not sure how I feel about it. I can tell that the author is a douche with lines like these:

Quote:Another flash point occurred this July, when George Zimmerman, who saw himself as a guardian of his community, was exonerated in the killing of an unarmed black teenager, Trayvon Martin, in Florida.

Quote:State-sponsored violence, too—in the form of capital punishment—sets our country apart. Last year we executed more than ten times as many prisoners as other advanced industrialized nations combined—not surprising given that Japan is the only other such country that allows the practice. Our violent streak has become almost a part of our national identity.

I'm interested in what everyone thinks.

Made it this far: " Our death rate from assault is many times higher than that of highly urbanized countries like the Netherlands or Germany, sparsely populated nations with plenty of forests and game hunters like Canada, Sweden, Finland, or New Zealand, and large, populous ones like the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan."

Then did a quick scan, looking for the words 'gangs' and 'criminals'. I'll just file that article in the TP bin.

Admit nothing.  Deny everything. Demand proof.
If we lie to the government, it's a crime. If the government lies to the people, it's called politics.

I read most of it except for his break down analysis on his perspective on the "11 Nations" in the US. This is a good example in my opinion of someone trying to sound intellectual and intelligent without saying anything that is necessarily true or thinking too hard about something that is pretty obvious. If he did a statistical analysis with some real data and crunched some real numbers I might be slightly interested in what he had to say. As it stands it's just blabber.

Of course people in different regions are going to have different views. We all come from differing cultures. As a civilized culture we should steer away from violence in society as much as possible, but bottom line sometimes violence is unfortunately required. Ask any lawful police officer if they could execute their jobs without employing some level of violence at the appropriate times.

You wouldn't be able to run as many people over with that car if it didn't drive as far. It should only have a 10 gallon fuel tank.
