"Used" ammo.

To me, if I couldn't get his HST for 100 off retail, I'd rather just pay retail. His private shipping would eat up whatever little savings there was anyway.

Commodity? How so? Ammo is widely available, at least where I shop for it. I still look for deals on the secondary market though.

How about "second-hand"?

I'm not smart enough to think of that, thank you. Big Grin

I was gonna say "second-hand" too.

Typically I think second hand ammo will sell for SLIGHTLY less than what you would pay in store, but that's not always the case. Like anything else, it's supply and demand.

Personally, I would be willing to pay the same price for second hand ammo, so long as it wasn't a big inconvenience to actually make the transaction (like having to drive far). I like to support the second-hand gun market as much as I can. It will be helping someone out who might be trying to save up for a new gun, or maybe he needs the money for his family. I'd rather give my money to him than to walmart or a gun store that's already making tons of money.

How do you really know it is new sealed box? Maybe he is good reloader and you may not be able tell difference. You should get a discount base on the risk you are taking

That's paranoid.

Not really there is big problem with counterfeit nuts and bolts if some one is willing to make a buck how would you know until you shoot it or the wing falls off your plane

Sure, but it's paranoid.

You could just as easily and more likely get bad factory ammo than reloaded ammo disguised as factory. Additionally, reloaded ammo unlike counterfeit hardware isn't necessarily inferior. Most reloaders produce superior ammunition at a fractional cost.

I really can't imagine a guy going through all the effort of reloading ammunition and selling it as factory. When you factor in your time, how much money are you really making? 1 dollar an hour? No one in their right mind would do that.

The only thing I can see happening is someone accidentally selling reloads as factory ammo, because they reused the boxes. Even then, unless the guy was a total novice you will probably be fine, and you would probably be able to tell anyway.

A more realistic risk is simply I don't know how old it really is or how it was stored.

That's why I just bought from SG ammo in the end. Didn't feel like insulting him and sg ammo has been good to me.

Another problem is after the time and monetary investment of making the ammo, you need to have a steady stream of sales to justify it. Second-hand ammo sales probably aren't the most popular.
