People under a two year restraint order will lose there guns or Republican will not fight it. (Not clear exactly to me). Agree or not it is something. Sometimes they are bs because the complainant lied. Nothing was actually gained in the long run.

And that there is the crux of the matter. If gun owners aren't gaining, we aren't winning.

From what has been reported on January 29th by NRA News Cam & Co. in an interview with Virginia State Delegate Michael Webert, legislation introduced by himself in the House and a similar Bill introduced in the Senate IS a move in the winning column. Both Bills, which from what is being reported are expected to pass, will have universal reciprocity. Meaning, if a state has a concealed carry program (even May Issue States) they will be automatically recognized in Virginia. Since all 50 States have some sort of concealed carry license, all 50 States can legally carry in Virginia.

One caution the Delegate did make is that the Governor has veto power but in light of the debacle over the whole concealed carry issue, he is expected to sign it.

I read your post the day you posted it, I took a day or so deciding if I should respond given the general opinion that PFA's are used by pissed off women to fuck over their ex.
I'm sure that happens, in any group of people you are going to have asses and bitches.
However, both parties go before a judge and get to make their case.
If a guy (or gal) is not an abuser, they should be able to convince a judge of this IMO.

Now, this is why I have the opinion that I really don't care about PFA's.
I think the spiteful ex is an overblown theory ginned up by guys needing to come up with a cover story.
My old man was a real prick.
He would make my mother call him when she was leaving work.
If she was two minutes later than what he considered enough time to make it home, he would meet her at the door usually drunk and with his S&W 29.
I'm not going to go into what my brother, sister and myself had to watch.
Ever sleep in a abused woman's shelter? I can tell you it's not fun. Getting scabies wasn't fun, nor was the next time when my brother got pinkeye, nor the next time when...
I will say that if he had not been forced to leave when I was 12 I probably would have eventually ended this abuse myself and would be typing this from a prison more than likely.
If it had not been for an uncle of mine that was up from Florida on a visit figuring out what was going on someone would have ended up dead for sure.
He "convinced" my old man that leaving was in his best interest because without his booze and .44 he was a huge pussy that didn't care for the fact that someone had their size 14 on his neck until it looked like his eyes were going to pop out.
I honestly cannot tell you where my old man is right now, I simply don't give a shit.

So, do guys get screwed over by spiteful ex's?
Probably.
But they get their day in court.
Is the system perfect?
Nope, not even close.
But until guys can learn that the thing between a woman's legs is not worth going to jail for this will continue.
After a couple dates a guy should know if the woman he has been seeing is a raving loon and he needs to cut ties right now, not after sleeping with her just a few more times until he finds another.

This is my opinion on the matter and I know it will be met with some anger by some, but I simply don't give a shit as I don't sleep with loons.

Does a citizen still need a permit to carry a gun in VA? Can a person accused of domestic violence become prohibited without due process?

Yes?

Then gun owners have gained nothing from this deal.
Unbanned since September 2012.

I wouldn't have used a restraining order as a determinant, at least not a sole one.

If you have a simple assault (misdemeanor) under your belt already or picked up some arrests AND then you get a stay-away order, then you've proven yourself.

That's just MHO.
