Veteran in Oregon protects home with AR-15, faces criminal charges for warning shot
Quote:The tables have really turned for one Oregon veteran who is now facing criminal charges after attempting to prohibit a wanted felon from breaking into his home.

Corey Thompson, a military veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, cautioned the burglar before eventually firing a warning shot at Jonathon Kinsella as the runaway felon was trying to come in through his backdoor.

“I told him ‘I’m going to give you a warning shot’,” Thompson told KDRV-TV.

And fire a warning shot, he did. Thompson brandished his AR-15 semi-automatic rifle and fired a shot at Kinsella without hitting him or any other person.

But Thompson was in for a rude awakening as he not only helped to aid local Medford police in catching the felon (who coincidentally was wanted on outstanding warrants for burglary and assault), but also himself.

Thompson was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and reckless endangering.
It's the "BILL OF RIGHTS" not the bill of "needs"
Legally he should not be charged with anything.

But practically speaking these days, he should have waited until the guy broke into the house before firing.

Huh. Here I thought the use of a firearm was a lawful use of a weapon. Whoops.

It also seems to me that the BG was a menace to the general public. Huh.

Seems to me the BG was recklessly endangering himself as he broke in to houses.

Can the weapon charge be dropped and the BG charged with menacing and reckless endangering? Please?

And people wonder why crime is on the rise.
I tend to agree with the commentor called swampsniper.

If it was a shotgun, then this would have been fine. Hell, uncle Joe gave us permission to use a shotgun and fire it up in the air if someone is trying to break into our houses.

Me too.

As to the comments from Biden, I'm pretty sure when he made that remark that we stated here (or was it the other place) that this is EXACTLY what would happen to you if you followed that advice.

Wonder where that warning shot ended up at? I'd say the guy's lucky that "warning shot" didn't injure or kill one of his neighbors, he'd be facing a lot worse then.
