A Reading from the Book of Armaments, Chapter 4, Verses 16 to 20:

Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

Freaky. I was just thinking about the stuff the other day.

I was cleaning up a rifle and couldn't recall if they made a "solvent" type of cleaner that could be sprayed on.

Is there a difference between Weapon Shield and CLP besides Weapon Shield is made in PA and smells like cinnamon?

^^^ This confuses me because I thought "CLP" was simply an acronym for "cleaner/Lubricant/Protectant".

Or is there a brand of CLP that just became so popular that it became known as it's own description rather than it's name?

Weapon Shield IS a "CLP".

Gothcha. Sort of a reverse "Kleenex/Tissue" sort of thing where the product (CLP) became known as a "brand".

I have no idea what the difference is. Big Grin

Well I like Break Free CLP a lot, so when I run out of it I guess I'll give Weapon Shield a try.

Are Break Free and Weapon Shield petroleum-based or vegetable-based, or some other-based products?

I've settled on the oldest product on the market, Ballistol. It's coal-based. I use it in any metal lubricating situation, CLP on my guns, even on wood and non-suede leather. Heck, it even soothes scratches and scrapes!
