Et tu, Wegmans?

The Rochester-based grocer that has been continually lauded for providing health insurance to its part-time workers will no longer offer that benefit.

Until recently, the company voluntarily offered health insurance to employees who worked 20 hours per week or more. Companies are required by law to offer health insurance only to full-time employees who work 30 hours or more per week.

Several Wegmans employees confirmed part-time health benefits had been cut and said the company said the decision was related to changes brought about by the Affordable Care Act.

Most part time workers don't even get health insurance anymore. They must have been really trying to do right by their workers.

There are reasons.

Then there are excuses.

Actually, he's hoping that as many of the working poor as possible will die horribly of fatal diseases, unable to afford even a visit to the free clinic.

And by working poor they mean all of us who are not wealthy and privileged. They can't wait for us to all be sucking on the Gov's tit for our basic needs.

You wouldn't be able to run as many people over with that car if it didn't drive as far. It should only have a 10 gallon fuel tank.

The same thing happened to Cracker Barrel. They always offered insurance to anyone who worked 24 or more hours. ACA says they couldn't - people had to work at least 30 hours.

My wife just got a letter this past week from her employer (a rather large world wide company in the health care industry ironically). They are no longer providing health benefits to part time workers as well. Lucky for us I work full time and we participate in the health care program offered by my employer.

The shape of things to come, without a doubt.
