Went to Ace's today...

... and two Rugers followed me home!

First is a Ruger SR40c. I had one of these before, but it had some issues that caused me to not trust the gun, but I'm going to try another and see how it goes.

Then there's this..., the Ruger American Rifle in .308!!! I've been waiting for a long time for this to come in at Bud's, or somewhere else, and was surprised to find they had one here. He had to go get it out of stock, but a .308 for 360 bucks with a lifetime warranty? Yes please!!! Now I just have to get it outfitted and I can't wait to shoot it.

Nice pickups Justin. Good luck with the handgun, hope you don't have the same problems. Range reports when you get the chance please.

Two solid finds in my opinion! More pictures and of course a range report please!

UGG! I hope I don't regret this SR40C again. Just got done cleaning her up, loaded up a mag, and she wouldn't chamber a round until the 4th round in the mag.

I'm taking her to the range this weekend, hopefully some "break in" will resolve the issue.

That sounds like it could be a mag spring problem. It may be putting too much force on the round and almost "popping" the round up, too high into the chamber and they may just need to be broken in. Try leaving them (the mags) loaded until you go to the range and then when you get there start with only 10 or 11 in the mag, then each time you load it back up put 1 more in. Hopefully that will work. If not then call Ruger, their customer service is fantastic.

Nice purchase by the way. Big Grin

What problems did you have before with the SR40? I have the SR9c and am honestly just curious, because mine has been flawless except for bad ammo.

I was also thinking it was the mag.

Rob, mine had light strikes, despite cleaning the gunk out of the striker channel and then the trigger wouldn't reset.

Ugg. 19 FTFs in the first fifty rounds. Using quality federal FMJs and JHPs.

Aces has the one year in house where they will deal with the manufacturer on my behalf, so I'll give em a chance to get it fixed.

This is the second Sr40c that didn't work right out of the box, for me, and my confidence in this line is extremely low right now.

I really want to like this gun and trust it as a carry piece, so I'll give them a chance to make it right.

That's really weird. I've had my sr40c for over a year now and put over 500 rounds in it (using the 9 mag and 14 mag) and never had any problems. I think the mag ejection button on the pistol can sometimes require a good amount of force to cause the mag to eject. Other than that, no problems (knock on wood).

Edit: I've put Federal FMJ, Federal HSTs, and Winchester FMJs through it.
