What are the rules on international prisoners?
#1
I'm sure you all have seen by now the military guy who is being imprisoned and abused down in Mexico.

Are there rules about international arrests? Can we not go rescue him? I know they couldn't get Amanda Knox out or anything while she was being tried in Italy. But she was really a true, honest-to-goodness suspect (and I have a hard time completely believing her innocence, myself, but hey who knows...). This guy asked the border control person if he was allowed to bring in his gun and the guy told him yes, as long as he declares it....and declaring it got him in a really bad way!

Can't we just charge in there and demand they let him out????

You should link to a story imo, but I'm familiar with this topic from another forum. The guy was an idiot for not researching it on his own. Mexico has draconian gun laws and signs posted at the border. You should never trust a law enforcement or border control officer to give you accurate information on gun laws. We've learned that from the Open Carry threads over the years.

The State Dept should be talking to the Mexican Government and applying pressure for his release. If they're not it's becuase Obama likes to see Americans in foreign jails for minor gun violations.
