What is your preferred home defense weapon?

JHP in everything except the Tokarev. I have all 4 of those loaded with surplus FMJ because that's what's available. You'll notice that 7.62X25 is at the end of the list, that's not a coincidence. First of all FMJ isn't the best defensive load, and secondly I got them with my C&R license so they aren't in the PSP database that isn't a registry and I'd rather not add that hassle to an already bad situation. They're not my first go-to but they wouldn't be ignored if they're handy when needed.

Yeah I love the Tokarev round but defensive loads are rare for that caliber. I know Wolf and I believe Prvi Paratizan sell some. This guy call Reed also makes supposedly good defensive loads for Tokerav pistols: http://shop.reedsammo.com/category.sc?categoryId=14

I was just digging to see what Tok owners say since I will purchase a C&R soon and the first purchase will be a Tokerav or Makarov pistol. I am a bit concerned that the TT's might not even reliably feed JHP's.

JHP for the Makarov wasn't too hard to find or too expensive. When I bought my first CZ82 I bought a case of JHP and a case of FMJ from Aim Surplus and since then I've bought more at gun shows.
I just checked Aim and the only Mak ammo they have in stock right now is 92 gr FMJ.
Until I checked out this link, http://shop.reedsammo.com/category.sc?categoryId=14, I'd never seen anything except FMJ for the Tok.
Thank you.

A Glock 21SF and a SIG P220 on my nightstand. I need something I can get into action quickly while still lying down. If someone were to break into my house they could be in my bedroom in seconds. I wouldn't have time to get a rifle or shotgun into action.

Glad I could help, if you end up ordering some JHP's from Reed's please let us know how the ammo functions. I am a bit concerned that JHP's might not feed properly in an old war pistol that was used with FMJ's only.

I leave a model 10 Smith in my closet along with a 12ga pump. I have a Ruger p89 on my hip or at my bedside. I have fixed blade knives around the house and a few softball bats in well placed areas. I also have two medium sized dogs who don't like strangers in our home unless I bring them in.

My primary HD was my R870 Super Mag Express. It used to sit loaded safety off and cocked underneath my bed ready to fire. Just drop, roll, grab and shoot.

That was OK when I was in a highrise apartment and in 2 story home but I'm in a 4-level house so carrying that huge thing around is too much so my range-abuse gun, Taurus PT1911 is my HD weapon. It also feeds junk fairly well.

You can see how dirty I got it so far. I picked up some rounds that were spilled on the floor by a previous .45 shooter and ran them through. Had a jam, re-ran and it's fine. [I'm not a believer in that a 1911 needs to be stripped and cleaned after EVERY box has gone through it. The finish on this Taurus is thin so I decided this is my bewm-bewm gun. And yes it does get cleaned... cleaned it today ]

I still have not decided what my CC gun will be, but it will be a nice revolver. I'm thinking of getting a 4" 686 for both CC and fun, and a P229 is also in the cards after Christmas.

I don't do Glock I think it's ghetto. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Glock 27 with night sights and a Surefire z-2 combat flashlight. Thinking about a crimson trace or laserlyte set up.

Mossberg M590A1 mounted on the wall within reach of the bed, and a Glock 23 in the nightstand.
And a bayonnet on the shotgun, just in case I run thru all the shells.
