Quote:Reporters from USA TODAY and Gannett news operations nationwide reached out to governors and legislatures in each state to learn what gun-related proposals might be in the works.

Thankfully our future home is planning to continue going in the right direction.

Governor's office: Gun legislation won't receive a push from Republican Gov. Terry Branstad, spokesman Tim Albrecht said.

Legislature: Approval of funds for more frequent mental health crisis training of law enforcement and health officials is more likely than the passage of gun legislation, said Sen. Jack Hatch (D). New laws on guns are not likely, Hatch said. Republicans in control of the House have signaled their support for strengthening gun ownership rights, said Rep. Matt Windschitl.

If Texas decriminalizes Open Carry I may just move there.

Me too. It's a shame that we are surrounded on three sides by states with already asinine gun laws and they plan on making them more asinine.

I'm thinking New Mexico is looking good. They've got a strong militia movement with 200 full time volunteers carrying rifles and equipment 24 hours a day and able to respond anywhere in the county in 30 minutes. Plus LEOs willing to go head to head with federal agencies to protect citizens rights. Not to mention stubborn old ladies who make threats to the EPA to protect their property and having the EPA back down.
