Where is John Galt? I'm Ready to go.

Where is a man who can save us? A man of virtue and action who can rebuild our economy and culture? We must find a true-to-life John Galt.

I think America’s best shot at economic recovery and restoring constitutional freedom is to nurture men and women who emulate the virtues of John Galt, a hero in Ayn Rand’s magnum opus novel, Atlas Shrugged. Galt is a man of unparalleled virtue, intelligence and action in a fictional U.S. economy that is eerily identical to the present-day U.S. economy.

I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine. - Ayn Rand

Silly. America's best shot remains people stop waiting for somebody to save them from this or that and man up and then get on to getting it done.

While I'm on your side in principal, the thing to remember is that John Galt didn't save anyone, he created an environment where people could save themselves.

The simple fact is that even Republicans believe in the welfare state. The vast majority of them support a federal social safety net, SS, Medicare, etc. People who want to go Galt are ridiculed by the left and the right. Republicans read Atlas Shrugged but don't really accept the message. They just want their taxes to go down, but keep all the "good" stuff the government does. They don't understand that the very nature of central planning ensures failure over the long term.

Until we get more than 2%, to understand that all central planning is bad and taxation is theft we won't be able to change the country. Even well-intentioned government programs result in unintended negative consequences. People have to understand opportunity costs and how central planning hurts economic prosperity.

I am fairly certain there was a candidate such as the one you speak of. The GOP made it their mission to ensure he was not the Presidential candidate. He also just gave his retirement Farewell Speech to Congress.

I am John Galt. I will never let my children take what they did not earn. They will learn to aspire to achievement, and never to take that which they are not entitled.

No one man can change the ideology of generations. That change must come from the scions of our future. Every seed is important

Same here. I never really understood "who is John Galt" signs. I'm currently reading a book for work, but I think Atlas Shrugged is going to be next on my reading list. I can tell I am either going to enjoy reading it or I am going to enjoy reading it as my blood pressure rises.
