Which Prop do you Love to Hate?
#1
Shooting at New Holland IDPA last month, I was introduced to a Swing Through. As of right now, it is my least favorite prop to come up against.

Out and Back: Stage 8 at Ontelaunee...

And not just an out and back, a 25 yard one...

Stage starts @ 10:50

I didn't get a single hit on that target. I had a mental lapse and forgot about it until I heard the ping from hitting the steel popper behind the paper target. At that point I was in a panic to get in position to ambush it.

I also completely missed it, but I got 3 shots off...

I'll admit I was so fixated on that target at NH, I completely forgot the order I was supposed to shoot the targets in.. got a procedural and didn't even bother to see if I got a hit on it, if I did it was pure luck, that sucker flipped over very fast.

I got a procedural on that stage as well (shot targets out of order).

At some point after the match I was talking to Mark and he said that the speed of that target is actually turned down. For fun he is going to crank it up to full speed for a future match.

The "Earthquake Chair" from the Ontelaunee IDPA Match today (Feb 2013)

it is harder than it looks. The recoil from Factory 9mm Rounds was pushing the chair around. Difficult yet very fun.

After my abysmal performance yesterday I'm gonna have to agree on the chair...

At the BHTC rifle match in Lewistown, we shot from a picnic table suspended with rope from the rafters...

We started from off the table, had to climb on, get in position (prone), and hit a steel at 600 yards.

One of my all time faves.

Hmmm....we have a platform like that earthquake chair at Lewistown...... might have to try that out.

When we used it, (just made last year) you started on the ground, stepped up on the platform, and had to get 6 hits on a mover that was activated by a pressure plate you stepped onto before stepping onto the platform... Unfortunately, it was the only target on the stage, and was a disappearing target. We ended up with a shooter who lost his balance getting on the platform, and never got a shot off on the stage. Lesson learned there, never have a disappearing target as your only target on a stage. Kinda hard to score a shooter, when the timer is still reading 0.00
