Which Vitamins/Supplements?
#1
I've always been hit or miss with taking vitamins or supplements.

Any suggestions as to what is good to take and what brands are good to buy?

For the last 10 years I've been bouncing between CVS store brand and Vitamin World for general vitamins. For special purpose compounds I look for pharmaceutical grade suppliers.

As what to take depends on your age and overall health. Because of my crohn's I take a higher amount of vitamins along with injectable b-12. Talk to a doctor and get blood drawn to see what you need.

I take D3 5000mg from Costco, i think its Natures Bounty or something like that. Its the only thing I take regularly.

I also have some dried elderberries on hand to make elderberry syrup for when I feel a cold coming on. It's also very good to just drink without being sick lol.

I take a men's multi-vitamin, fish oil, glucosamine chondroitin, and fiber. I think before next winter I am also going to start taking a vitamin C supplement to help me prevent from getting sick.

If you want to investigate potential makers and their products, you could check my daughter's site. She used Shaklee product and liked them so much she started selling them.

Her site is: http://Amanda-b.myshaklee.com

She has user account on this site which she recently created to lurk. User is Shyem.

Unless you have been tested by a real doctor and have a deficiency you will merely be pissing $$$$$$$ down the toilet.
I have a malabsorption issue and get tested yearly. Very expensive and they take usually about 8 vials and 2 are wrapped in foil to avoid sunlight. In the end I take all sublingual D3, B's, special hi-po multis that I chew 4 times daily.

Don't waste your money without a real diagnosis.

I really need to get my blood tested. I've been feeling mentally fatigued since last autumn. Like that feeling you get when you stay up for three days in a row. I'm pshycially energized, just feel like I'm in a fog. Shrug

Uh..., sorry about that..., we.., uh, "burped" a little something out, around then, and the winds would have taken it in your direction.

As for vitamins/supplements, my doc says that unless you have a deficiency, as already mentioned, then you don't really need the alphabet vitamins. However, he did suggest fish oil (if you don't each much fish, like me), and Co-Q10.

For prepping, however, if a long term SHTF scenario comes along, and you are relying on your stores, they may be vitamin deficient, so it is prudent to stock multi-vitamins, etc, as part of your preps. I keep mine next to the KI. Ninja
