Who DOES NOT own an AR or AK.

Talking on another thread. Something came up that made me wonder about something.

How many people on this forum DO NOT own anything that would equate to a Military Style of rifle? That you do not own an AR or AK or battle rifle.

Not that its a bad thing. It just made me wonder how many people don't care for them, or, just haven't bought themselves one yet?

If you don't own one, is it because you don't want one, or just never got around to buying one yet?

In the beginning a Patriot is a scarce man, Hated, Feared and Scorned; but in time, when his cause succeeds, the timid join them, because then it cost nothing to be a Patriot.... Mark Twain.

I'm a mil-surp, walnut & steel guy personally. I've owned four different AKs but am down to one now and am considering selling that one too. They just don't do anything for me. On the AR side, I've only ever had the one currently in my safe, a retro Colt SP1. Even that one would have been sold by now if not for my son claiming it as his own.

So the bottom line is, I own two "assault rifles" currently but could do without them honestly. But I think everyone should be able to own them of course.

Hubby used to have an AK years ago but had to sell during some hard times. Currently do not have any.

I don't own an AR or an AK, however, I do own an SKS (first gun - bought it after shooting a friends).

Since I got into shooting, I've been more into pistols than anything else. With competitive pistol shooting being something that I'm really into, rifles have just been put on the back burner.

Not long before Sandy Hook, I borrowed a friends AR to shoot a rifle side match at an IDPA event. I loved it and begen setting aside money to buy one when funds became available. Before I was even half way there, prices went through the roof and I spent that money elsewhere (making sure I could at least shoot pistol throughout the Winter and Spring).

I'd love to own an AR but that won't happen until prices come back down again (and funds allow).

I do not own an AR or AK, but a lot of my friends do so I just shoot theirs.

I'm just not much of a rifle guy. I love handguns. I own 6 of them. If I had $800-1200 to spend at the gun shop, I'd buy 2 or 3 handguns (or 1 Kimber 1911) instead of 1 rifle.

Although ARs are starting to interest me more. Maybe it's because the people in D.C. are trying to play keep away and tell me I might not be able to own one soon. Shrug

I own a AR, but honestly I could care less about it. It mostly takes up space. I have no real need for it. If ammo doesn't stabilize eventually I may just sell it. I'm not spending $1 a round to shoot something that is only good for sending lead down range. It's not my hd gun, I'm not into competitive shooting, can't hunt with it, and I don't get any particular thrill shooting it.

I have an Ar and a SKS in the safe. There is also a few yugo .22 training rifles. I don't have an Ak as of yet. I have not seen one while I was in between buying something else.

I should have picked up a few lowers when the price was still low. i can wait until the price comes back down.

Nothing at all against 'em. I enjoyed shooting one of the AR15s the club owns. Fine rifle. It just falls outside of my interests to shoot on a regular basis, so I'm not likely to own one. But I'll defend to the death your right to do so.
