With gun nuts hoarding bullets, will cops be disarmed?

Quote:With gun nuts hoarding bullets, will cops be disarmed?

NOWHERE in the article did I see a quote from anyone who was interviewed that used the words "GUN NUTS". Amazing what Alex Seitz-Wald, Salon's political reporter thinks of you and I.

ALSO, where is any reporting about the govt's billions of rounds of ammo being bought? Where is any reporting about the order in which ammo orders are filled?

Quote:Pryor’s problem, he explains to Salon, is that he’s having trouble finding ammunition and firearms for his officers, thanks to a national shortage. The cause? A run on supply from gun lovers afraid that Congress or state legislatures will impose new gun control laws in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting.

“Everyone is thinking, they’re going to stop manufacturing, or they’re going to be taxing and all this, so it’s just this mentality of, let’s all buy up everything now just in case. And it hurts us,” Pryor said. “This is ridiculous. This shouldn’t be happening to law enforcement.”

“Most certainly, ammunition is in very tight supply in addition to firearms,” thanks to “consumer fears of possible bans,”

While the bullets cops carry in their weapons as they walk the beat are probably safe, “The primary impact of the shortage is on training — due both to delays in obtaining ammunition and the increase in cost,” explained Darrel Stephens, the executive director of the Major Cities Chiefs Association, in an email to Salon.

Police officers return to the shooting range several times a year to keep up with qualifications, so departments consume a lot of ammunition. This is to keep officers’ skills sharp, but also for liability reasons, the experts said. Now, many are reporting having to cut back on the frequency of these exercises for their officers, and some are even forced to use service ammunition for training.

The last time I checked and as I know that I we can not rely on the Leo's to protect us from the bad guys whether it be criminals or the Government I'd have to say my response to Pryor and anyone really would be ...... "Suck it up butter cup" cause I really can honestly say I'm not concerned if they can buy ammo. Times like this it's every man for himself .....hell I just spent .64 cents a round to buy 100 rounds of .223 to pick up at my local New Holland gun shop tomorrow morning. Living on Ramon noodles just so I can buy ammo when they receive it ,while the cops use my tax money to buy theirs .

If the vitriolic tenor of the "comments" section of Salon is the meter of their readership, progressives are some really sick deficient bastards. Completely lowest denominator.

Why would you even bother reading something from Salon? You know that they will have a solid left stance and you know that their readership is hard line left. It amazes me when people are astounded that the left means what the left says.

I suspect your question was hypothetical but here goes:

1st thing in my 51 years of life that I ever read from salon. Never heard of them until today.

BUT - I read from many sources - daily. It is always good to know the opposite point of view as well.

From a debate and argument standpoint - I ALWAYS want to know the arguments from the enemy.....Much better to be prepared IMHO.

When (in the old days Smile ) you learned to debate, you were often called upon to argue a point of view diametrically opposed to your own beliefs. I had to do this many times....as recently as my last job where they paid my way through a Dale Carnegie course. This type of preparedness is invaluable in a debate.

i love that cops "go to the range several times a year"... the ammo shortage hasn't stopped me from going several times a month!

Instead of just leaving their brass on the ground, maybe the cops can pick it up and start reloading.

The DHS can then be nice and donate some ammo to them. I will continue to be a gun nut. I might go out and get a box or two today, just to spite them.
