Quote:The Mountain House Family-Sized Freeze Dried Meal 9-Pack includes Beef Stew, Beef Stroganoff with Noodles, and Lasagna with Meat Sauce. Based on storage studies conducted over many years, the pouch shelf life -- where the quality of food is nearly indistinguishable from new production -- is at least 10 years from the date of manufacture, if stored properly. For best results, store the pouches unopened in a cool dry area.

ETA in the OP I edited out my email info from the link, maybe that was the reason for the "sold out" message?

These survival food packs are always appealing until I see the price. Not knocking anybody for jumping on them I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm I looking at this wrong? Seems like a good stock of canned or dried goods would go much further in an emergency. Is the appeal just the shelf life?

By no means should one put all of their preps into one basket like this. A mix of source is best. The appeal is the shelf life.

My only freeze dried stores are two of these buckets from Costco. Got them on sale last year.
