Two-seat kayaks are relationship-breakers.

Two one-seaters are relationship-makers.

Aside from the arguments, the two seaters are just too long to really enjoy as kayaks; they're not nimble. Might as well have a canoe.

Get each of you an individual boat suited to your height and weight, and enjoy! You can pull up side-by-side and hold hands and make out.

I recommend getting two "cross-over" kayaks, like the Liquid Logic Remix XP9 or XP10, or the Jackson AllWater. You can do flatwater, and class 3 (or 4 if you're good) whitewater with 'em, and they have room for your camping gear.

Seriously, get two singles. Or find a place to rent and try first a double and two singles. We've done both and will never do a double again. We find we have much more fun when we could each control our own craft, pace and explore on our own, while together. Us both being in one was stressful and frustrating. They call doubles "divorce-makers" for a reason.
