Now if they try to get the rest of their rights back, it might be a decent place.
This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins. -Ben Franklin

They just might...looks like legal proceedings for that will be in April, where they are required to prove the law is Constitutional or it will be overturned.

Common sense prevails. That isn't very common these days, it seems.

It's amazing how FAST this made it to the state supreme court, while other more important rights have been denied by the state for decades.

I had the same happy thought but thats not the case. They only have to prove that the law was passed according to the procedure for fast tracking legislation per ny constitution not that the law itself is constitutional. The other case is regarding seized property without compensation. That is still in the distance I believe.

Regardless congrats to ny for waking up a little. This is like a small eye movement from a comatose patient.

BLOOMY: 'We're not banning anything. It's called portion control'...
http://cnsnews.com/news/article/mayor-bl...on-control

(CNSNews.com) – New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the large soda ban set to go into effect this month at city restaurants, street vendors and movie theaters is how government tells the public what’s in their best interest.

“We're not banning anything. It's called portion control,” Bloomberg said Sunday on CBS’s "Face the Nation." “It's a typical way that companies use to and governments use to explain to people what's in their interest and what isn't.”

What kills me is that if you look at this story in various and assorted places...you'll see idiot comments against obesity and how this was a "good law".

Yeah, its a "good law" if they agree with it, but what they're too stupid to understand is the next law is going to trample on something THEY like or want, and then they'll see it differently.
